As we celebrate restrictions easing further - to a point of near nonexistence, people are adjusting with what they now consider a “new norm”. The remote working scenarios that came as a result of ‘keeping us apart to keep us safe have focused a spotlight on the principles of ‘20-minute neighbourhood’ living. “The 20-minute neighbourhood is all about ‘living locally’ - giving people the ability to meet most of their daily needs within a 20-minute walk from home, with safe cycling and local transport options.”

Working remotely during the pandemic has again influenced peoples’ desire to access most of life’s requirements within walking distance or a short drive from home. This consideration, again, places “hub style” areas such as Newstead, Bulimba & West End property precincts with all its accommodating attributes, in good stead for current and future times. This has also been proven to be the case in suburban areas which have been developed with this 20-minute neighbourhood living concept in mind.

The Brisbane City Council also forecasts the increased desire for liveability (continuing growth) in these areas -as is apparent with infrastructure upgrades currently underway.

With an ear to the ground, we also seek feedback from our new tenants who express delight with easy access to main roads, efficient public transport and close access to lifestyle amenities such as gyms, CrossFit centres, parks and walkways, restaurants and bars. It goes without saying that the “20-minute neighbourhood” has remained almost impervious to the effects of covid-19 and continues to see steady movement.

A consistent stream of new rental applications are being received by our team and existing tenants are also shuffling between managements after regaining financial confidence post-pandemic.
